It’s great to be back! There was joy, laughter and learning in every corner of LJS as we began our Summer Term with a splash of sunshine.
There has been much chat of Easter trips, activities and, of course, the inevitable consumption of chocolate! As well as that we have some wonderful achievements to share.
The combined LJS equestrian team took part in the NSEA competition at Epworth in North Lincolnshire over the Easter break. We had representatives from Reception, Year 5 and Year 6 competing in a variety of individual and team combinations and they all represented LJS superbly. Nell competed individually and came 7th in the 40cm. Eliza, Fritha and Jack came 4th in their event – the 50cm. Jemima, Jack, Flora and Fritha came 3rd in the 60cm and Fritha came 2nd individually in the 70cm, while the team in the 70cm weren’t successful on this occasion but collaborated brilliantly. It was a fabulous day and lots of LJS team spirit was on show. Thank you to the families who supported and transported their children to the event.
Imogen in Year 4 completed the Three Peaks Challenge with her dad over the break and has now raised over £2000 for The Sick Children’s Trust. We are all tremendously proud of this incredible achievement. As well as climbing all three peaks in all kinds of weathers, she spoke live on the radio no less than three times before and after the event. She was also invited to send further information to the BBC, which she did, resulting in this article on their website. Imogen’s achievement has also been featured in The Week Junior (April 16th) and two local newspapers, including this article in The Peterborough Telegraph. To top off her media coverage, she had her photo shown on Blue Peter and is in the process of applying for her Gold Badge, having received her Blue Badge last spring.
As we finish the week with yet more sunshine, we have to ask – what did you do today?
