We are delighted to have been awarded the highest possible rating in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) following our recent routine inspection.
Inspectors visited LJS over a four-day period in June, during which they observed lessons, conducted interviews with staff and children and examined samples of our children’s work. The educational quality inspection found LJS to be excellent across both key outcomes; 1) the achievement of pupils, including their academic development and 2) the personal development of pupils. The regulatory compliance inspection found all outcomes to be met, with no recommendations made.
Some highlights of the report include that ‘Pupils of all ages and abilities demonstrate outstanding knowledge and skills across all areas of the curriculum’ and that this ‘confirms the school’s successful fulfilment of its aim to provide a high quality and inclusive education with children’s happiness at the heart of its approach.’ The report also recognised that ‘Pupils’ highly developed social skills are underpinned by the fact that they feel school is a safe and welcoming environment, where they can have fun learning together in their supportive community’ as well as observing that ‘Pupils are proud of their school and want to do well and play an active part in it.’
The pastoral provision and development of children as individuals was a key focus of the Inspection, with the report finding that children are ‘given very many opportunities to build confidence and resilience, and in doing so meet the school’s aim to develop in pupils the qualities to succeed and thrive in all aspects of their future lives.’
This inspection report is testament to the hard work, dedication and innovation of the LJS team, to the enthusiasm and curiosity of our exceptional children and to the ongoing help and support of our parent body. It is a wonderful reflection of all that is so special about our school and community and a great way to start the summer holiday!
