The U11 Hockey team played Bedford and Foremarke, last week. We played our hearts out and finished with some great results. The first match was against Bedford: it was end to end, with the ball going back and forth, and lots of great effort from both sides; the final score was 2-2.
We then played Foremarke, who are a very strong team but that didn’t stop us. The first half was hard on our defence, as Foremarke kept attacking and passed well. The half-time score was 1-0 to them. An encouraging team talk from Miss Danby told us to take the ball wide, attack more and take hit outs more quickly; this meant we were focused and determined in the second half. Despite our more aggressive play, the final score was 2-0 to Foremarke. Miss Danby’s players of the matches were Georgia and Rosie. Thank you to all the teachers for an amazing afternoon of hockey.
In the U11 Rugby, we have faced some tough opposition and although we struggled to win, we took some good training points away from these matches. At Wellingborough there were four other teams ready to play rugby: Wellingborough who were well organized, Stamford with pinpoint accurate kicks, Maidwell who have been strong opposition in the past and, finally, Bedford who have superb tackling.
Our first match was against Wellingborough. Throughout the game it was obvious the training that we had put in was crucial, we worked hard to put into practice what we had learnt and, in the end, it was 4-1 to us. Our second match was against Stamford and although we played well the game ended with a draw, with a score of 1-1. Next was Maidwell who had some extremely quick players. With confidence growing throughout the game, the score settled at 4-2 to LJS. Ned scored a phenomenal try, in this game, where he ran through Maidwell’s whole team; well done, Ned! Finally, we played Bedford and although the score was 3-1 to them, we showed fantastic resilience throughout.
